Immunofluorescence Method for The Detection of Non-Pathogenic Influenza Virus
The direct F.A. Method has been used for differentiation of virulent and avirulent lines of influenza viruses. A positive fluorescence was obtained indicating the level of virus in the tissues, sorbing with dried mouse powder helped to reduce non-specific staining. The virulent line showed the greatest number of fluorescent cells with the peak at 10 hours. the non-virulent lines showed a gra...
متن کاملPlacental regulation of maternal-fetal interactions and brain development.
A variety prenatal insults are associated with the incidence of neurodevelopmental disorders such as schizophrenia, autism and cerebral palsy. While the precise mechanisms underlying how transient gestational challenges can lead to later life dysfunctions are largely unknown, the placenta is likely to play a key role. The literal interface between maternal and fetal cells resides in the placent...
متن کاملThe impact of COVID-19 during pregnancy on fetal brain development
The development of the brain as the most complex structure of the human body is a long process that begins in the third week of pregnancy and continues until adulthood and even until the end of life (1). Human brain myelination begins one to two months before birth in the visual system and eventually lasts until the age of two in other sensory systems and then the motor systems (4). Processes a...
متن کاملA Study of the Maternal , Placental , and Fetal Tissues
The question of pregnancy and the use of anesthetics is a most important one and has called forth numerous contributions and a large amount of speculation and controversy. The opinion seems to be gaining ground that chloroform is an unsatisfactory anesthetic because of danger during the time of anesthesia, and, perhaps, more because of the possibility of the so-called effects of "late chlorofor...
متن کاملHighly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus Infection in Feral Raccoons, Japan
Although raccoons (Procyon lotor) are susceptible to influenza viruses, highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N1) infection in these animals has not been reported. We performed a serosurvey of apparently healthy feral raccoons in Japan and found specific antibodies to subtype H5N1 viruses. Feral raccoons may pose a risk to farms and public health.
